Thank you, bravo!

When our cable was cut off 8 days ago, I had a panic attack. With hot shows like Project Runway & Housewives of Atlanta just starting new seasons, I was already having withdrawals an hour into the cancellation. Even within seconds after I noticed the cable guy removing the ladder from my neighbor's backyard, I was on the phone making arrangements so that my tv watching would NOT be interrupted. Visions and scents of a time when we were without cable for a year and a half, returned. Sure, there were some rabbit ears in the living room. You gotta do what you gotta do. The loss of cable is by choice, by the way, but still... very traumatic.

The next day I found, that I can actually watch my shows online. Thanks to bravotv.com, mylifetime.com, and the like. You can pretty much catch anything you've missed online. Cbs, less on the soap operas, more on the big bang theory, em effers! I do have Cbs, but tBBt has changed their time to 9:30. I'm usually knocked the eff out by that time.

Life without cable has been quite lovely. My smooth internet connection has shone a brilliant light upon a very dark spot. I've been able to enjoy many forgotten things whilst keeping up with my stories. Bravo, why aren't there any videos of Jeff Lewis? We need full episodes here, people! I don't want to see photos. I want to hear and watch this dude.

Next, I'm looking up the Kardashians and iCarly.

asparagus, ham & cheddar frittata

We had a chance to spend some qt with our favorite Temecula bunch not too long ago. Uncle David hooked me up with a recipe for an Asparagus, Ham, and Gruyere Frittata. Since WIC doesn't offer gruyere...I used cheddar. It was a hot day when I made it and it involves the broiler but it was worth it when it was time to eat. I also made his cauliflower dish but had some technical difficulty. I'll not be posting a pic of that dish.

:::::Insomnia:::::

I went to bed at around 10:45 last night. Then, I woke up at 12:30 this morning. I'm still awake. I'm going to pay for this come 1pm.

Do-over

Yeah...so, I need to reset my 30 days without drinking soda. I was at the Relay for Life: American Cancer Society event today and I had to have a cold Coca-Cola to fuel my energy. The cold Pepsi was to go with my pizza.

I Heart Water

I'm attempting to go thirty days without drinking soda. So far, I've been doing amazing! I haven't had a drop of soda in 10 hours. I also just woke up about 5 minutes ago from six hours of sleep.

When I asked the hubby if he thought I could last a month without the bubbly beverage, he replied, "Not without a lot of complaining." I think I'll be ok with that.

America's Next Top Chef

I had a top-chef moment on Thursday. Lately, my pantry has been in desperate need of restocking and my refrigerator emits lonely cricket sounds when opened. Come mealtime, my selection is very limited. Not wanting to eat a warm bowl of malt-o-meal on a very hot summer day, I was desperately in search of an alternative. I remembered the mushrooms that I just picked up because they were on sale and I cooked them with a little butter. I had some chicken adobo sauce (sans any chicken) in the fridge and added it to the mix. Yes, I'm ghetto like that and save the chicken adobo sauce to eat with rice the next day. It reminds me of the chicken adobo dinner we had the night before. It also reminds me that we are pretty broke and that I have to resort to such desperate measures. Anywho, I cooked up a pot of white rice and voila! instant gourmet. It was delish and I shared it my 3-year-old who hates mushrooms. I tried to sneak a small piece within her rice but she immediately spotted it and it was ejected with the quickness. She is my daughter and has yet to find out that she actually loves mushrooms. I didn't find out myself until 5 years ago when Uncle David taught me how to cook them.

I realize that to a spectator, my little concoction might not seem so top-chefy. I suppose the more top-chef thing to do would be to serve the mushroom creation on a beautifully plated serving of malt-o-meal. But that would just be narsty.

My Sexy Skissors

I just got it this week and I'm in lust with it. It's light-weight & serrated. The serrated-ness is what's making me so crazy about it. I've never felt so passionate about a scissors before. I get excited when I come across something that needs cutting for my scrapbooking or card making needs. I keep thinking about my skissors...hence, the name of my new blog. It was either that or "Breastmilk". That's also been on my mind.
